 Working Out and Tanning...
« Thread Started on Jul 29, 2005, 2:23pm »

I am perplexed as to which order I should do this. My gym has tanning equipment, and it would save a lot of trouble in hunting down a new place by killing two birds with one stone. Should I tan BEFORE or AFTER working out? If I tan before, won't the sweat I work up negate the tanning session? Sweat interacts with bacteria already on our skin, and we shed the old skin, so wouldn't that be counter productive?

However, if I tan after, and I am all sweaty, wouldn't I be running a burn risk witht he open pores, accelrated blood flow and such? I could stand some expert input here, on this one...anyone?

I'm not an expert but I think you would get a better tan after working out. Like using a tingle.

Thanks Val, that's kind of the way I was leaning too. I just want to make sure that I get the most bang for my buck. I need to find out their lamp schedule, equipment, etc...tomorrow. I might even take a test ride to see if it does any good. I go to work out anyway, might as well, I just have to take an extra set of clothes with me so I don't have to climb into sweaty clothes after tanning :-X

Always use a salon quality lotion.
Tan in moderation (not everyday)

Well, I checked out the gym's equipment today, and I had a claustrophobia attack just looking at them! They would be good to prep a few midgets for a "Little People Wrestlemania," but for a guy like me, it's laughable! You'd think that a gym would invest in the bigger units because most of the folks in there are looking to do what?....You guessed it, get BIGGER!

So the hunt is on. I have been Googling the hell out of my area, and a lot of salons creep up, most are catering to the ladies...typical! Afriend of mine keeps telling me of one that is really close to where I usedto work, but I'm affraid I would give into temptation, and hack their system to total collapse.

Why can't a guy get a break?

I found a salon that has promise. Finally! It is a few miles from the gym, but in the same general area, so I can still kill two birds with one stone. I bought a trial membership, and used a "Blue Moon" bed. I didn't think it was all that hot, but now that I am home and less than fully dressed, I can see color developing...YAAAAYYYYYY!

Please, everyone, keep your fingers crossed that this new place works out.

OK guys, here is the update. I founf the new salon, it appears to be a chain called Image Sun. Only one in my entire driving area that I am willing to burn gas to get to. It is down the road from the gym, and I am getting good results from working out first and tanning second. I am using my trusted Designer Skin and Aloha Tan lotions and switching about between different units for optimum color. Funny thing is, my tummy used to get color somewhat faster than the rest of me, and now there is a noticeable difference between my chest and tummy. Oh well, I just keep going and it'll all even out, right? ???

I'm just glad to be getting my rays again!

There's one girl that works there that has a knowlege of the tanning process and the equipment there that far surpasses what I have run across in the salons of old, so that is impressing me. I have passed out a shitload of their cards to the waitstaff at the club my brother manages trying to drum them up some more business. This has promise!
